As the second generation took the helm, followed by the third and fourth generations, Scranton Printing evolved from a small operation into a regional leader. Under the guidance of Lionel Strauss and later Ken Strauss, the company expanded significantly.
Ken's leadership proved transformative. After studying business at the University of Miami and gaining experience with major corporations in New York City including R.W. Grace and J.C. Penney, Ken returned to Scranton with fresh perspectives and big ambitions. Together with his father Lionel, Ken grew the company from a six-person operation to a team of more than 20 skilled professionals.
This growth required space. In 2001, the family made a pivotal investment, purchasing a 50,000 square foot facility at 1225 Penn Avenue in Scranton. This wasn't just a building, it was a statement about the company's commitment to staying local, investing in the community, and positioning for long-term success.
Throughout these decades of growth, the family maintained an unwavering commitment: every printing job would be completed in-house. While many competitors began outsourcing work to cut costs, the Strauss family understood that quality control, customer communication, and craftsmanship could only be guaranteed when everything stayed under one roof.
